  Guidelines

- All radio transceivers must be used only after registering with the Communications Authority of Maldives(CAM).
- Application for a frequency cannot be made on behalf of some one else. Once a formal request is made, CAM will issue frequency(s) with the technical specification of the transceiver.
- Once the frequency is issued, the equipment should be registered within 3 months from the date of issue. This period may be extended on request before the above-mentioned period expires.
- Prior permission from CAM has to be obtained before assigned frequencies are used for any other purpose or by any other party.
- The frequency allocation is based on the types of the task to be carried out. A written statement from the relevant government authority or a copy of the company registry must be submitted along with the application form.
- If frequency is no longer used, CAM should be informed and Transmitting Station Licenses cancelled.
- Approved citizen band transceivers can be used by anyone after registering with CAM. Such transceivers can be sold or given away after obtaining permission from CAM.
- Prior permission must be obtained from CAM by parties who wish to undertake frequency programming.
- The authorized parties for frequency programming should only program equipment for those who produce written frequency assignment evidence.
- A third party wishing to share the frequency allocated to another should obtain a written permission from them. Frequency programming without such permission is prohibited
